Description
I spend a nice morning photographing this red-eared slider as he made his way from the middle of the pond to the shore at the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch in Gilbert, Arizona. Native to the southern United States and Northern Mexico Mexico these turtles are, however, the most commonly traded turtle in the world, this has caused them to become established in many other places due to pet releases. They are considered to be one of the 100 most invasive species according to the IUCN.
Red-eared sliders are mostly aquatic, they are cold-blooded therefore, they need to leave the water to sunbathe to regulate their body temperature. Fine Art America watermark will not appear on purchased artwork
